I will overwhelm 'credible combatant' Paul - Joshua

Anthony Joshua and Jake Paul face-off

Anthony Joshua prepares to battle Jake Paul in an eight round contest which will be shown live on Netflix.

British boxer Anthony Joshua said he will "stamp all over" the American and "defeat" his opponent as the combatants came face-to-face to build hype for next month's heavyweight fight.

Former two time unified boxing king Anthony Joshua meets YouTuber-turned-boxer Paul - in what is, on paper, a mammoth disparity - at Miami's venue on December 19th.

Boxer's Mentality

"I'm going to injure his face and damage his physique. I'm here to prove I'm superior," the British boxer, 35 years old, stated.

"I'll stamp all over him. That's the boxer's mindset.

"I'm going to really want to injure him. That's my goal."

Civil Interaction

In spite of these statements, a composed Joshua and internet personality Paul - typically recognized for his theatrics - exchanged pleasantries and maintained decorum with each other.

Jake Paul rather targeted former Joshua's rival the Cameroonian fighter and called him "ridiculous" after Ngannou declined a match opportunity.

Targeting Tyson Fury

Joshua, meanwhile, took aim at UK opponent Tyson Fury - and rejected a £1m bet 'Tyson Fury' says he will place on a Paul win.

"Jake Paul is better than Tyson Fury - he's actually sitting here," the boxer commented.

"I respect him for that."

Serious Opponent

In spite of declaring he will damage his opponent, Joshua declined to speak negatively about his rival's fighting skills.

"Jake Paul is a legitimate boxer," he stated.

Paul's History

Paul - who first rose to fame on the television network - has mainly boxed MMA fighters or faded names since turning professional.

He lost to British fighter Tommy Fury in 2023.

Commercial Attraction

However, the relative newcomer is still one of boxing's biggest money-making draws, regularly earning substantial financial rewards.

Prediction and Belief

The 28-year-old anticipated a KO victory in round four or five and asserted he would stop the highly-expected Joshua–Fury fight, which is reportedly under discussion for 2026.

"It's going to be my match with Fury next year," Jake Paul said.

Size Disparity

As Joshua and Paul participated in the traditional confrontation, with their physical disparity evident, it drove home just how unlikely this entire matchup is - and how remarkable it is that the bout is truly happening.
